Trip Reward Points (TRPs) - Frequently Asked Questions

What are TRPs and why would we need them?

TRPs stand for “Trip Reward Points”.  These are points that are accumulated/earned by CAMPA families through designated fundraising events in order to reduce the amount families need to pay to go on our different tours.  Events we have organized in the past include staffing the canteen at different Campbell events,  Bingo nights, Sobeys/Safeway gift card fundraisers, working at the Saskatchewan Roughrider games, etc.  The eligible events that can accumulate TRPs vary from year to year so watch for opportunities as they are announced by the CAMPA fundraising team.

What are TRPs worth?

One TRP is equivalent to one dollar, and can be applied to music tour fees for any student in the family.

Why do I have to spend my TRPs only on music tour fees?  Why can’t I use them for uniform fees or other music program expenses?

Some fundraising activities have strict requirements for what the funds can be used for.  For example, if CAMPA applies for a Class B Bingo Charitable Gaming Event Lottery License so that we can participate in fundraising bingos, that license requires CAMPA to comply with the “accepted use of proceeds” which are governed under The Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act, 1997 and The Gaming Regulations, 2002 and outlined in detail in the Charitable Gaming Licensing Manual from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA).  For CAMPA, funds earned via fundraising bingos must be applied to specific expenses, which are transportation, meal, and accommodation costs of music program travel.  Since some fundraising activities have such strict rules, we determined that the TRP program in its entirety be applied under these same rules.

How do I earn TRPs?

CAMPA will send out messages to all CAMPA families when there is an event that is eligible to earn TRPs.  In most cases, spots are limited so you would need to follow the instructions and let the person in charge of the volunteer opportunity know you would like to participate.  You would get scheduled into a “shift” and then at the end of the event the TRP amount would be calculated and applied to your account (via a Discount Code that can be applied on the payment screen of your tour payment checkout).

How does CAMPA keep track of the TRPs earned by each family, and how do we know how many TRPs we have earned?

For fundraising bingos, CAMPA’s TRP Administrator receives a listing of the CAMPA family members who worked each bingo, and enters the appropriate number of TRPs into that family’s TRP Account on a spreadsheet.  Similarly, for other TRP-designated fundraising activities, the appropriate number of TRPs is entered.  A summary of recent TRPs earned and the current Account Balance is emailed to the family on a periodic basis, and a year-end overall summary of TRPs earned, used, and Account Balance is emailed after the July 31st fiscal year-end is completed.  Families can also request an update to be emailed to them if they haven’t recently accumulated new TRPs and can’t recall how many points are in their account.  These requests should be directed to trp@campa.ca.

What if we don’t use up all of the points ourfamily has earned during the year?

TRPs can be carried over to future years, as long as the family has a student actively in the Campbell Music Program.  If, however, there is no longer a student active in the program, then any TRPs that remain in the family’s account are transferred to CAMPA’s Student Assistance Fund to help other students who require financial assistance in offsetting their music tour fees.

Why can’t our family get a refund if there areleft-over TRPs in our family account when our student is no longer active inthe Campbell music program?

In order to comply with the regulations that allow CAMPA to participate in bingo fundraisers, the proceeds earned can only be applied to Campbell’s Music Program travel expenses.  CAMPA applies these same rules for all TRPs earned.

What is the process for applying our family’s TRPs to our student’s music tour fees?  Is this automatic, or do I need to do something?

TRPs are applied by utilizing the "Discount Code" field on the payments section of the checkout process.  As TRPs are earned, the dollar amount on your families Discount Code is kept up to date.  The Discount Code will only apply to tour payments so if you try and use the discount code on something else no discount will be applied.

The discount codes are set to be single use only to keep them secure from being used inappropriately.  So if you have more TRP value than what you require to cover the cost of the tour payments, we have to manually go in to update the TRP value in the Discount code to the correct amount and then set the discount to be able to be used again.  So if you want to pay for multiple tour payments as 2 separate transactions and use TRP points against both, there is a short delay in getting the TRP amount updated and the discount set to multi use due to this manual process.

What if I have another question – who do I contact?

If you have any questions with regards to TRP, then you can send your request to trp@campa.ca or you can click the button at the bottom of this page to fill out a form and request information.  Once we receive your request, a CAMPA volunteer will respond as soon as possible. But please remember, our board is staffed with volunteers so please allow a little bit of time to receive a response.  We are doing the best we can.

Bingo Trip Reward Points - Frequently Asked Questions

What are the responsibilities involved in working a bingo?

There are various duties involved, which have been summarized in a Bingo Volunteer Job Description for CAMPA available by clicking the link below.

Please ensure that you familiarize yourself with these qualifications and expectations before volunteering.

How many TRP points do I earn for working a bingo?

Each family member who works the bingo earns 50 TRP Points.  This equates to $50 that can be applied towards any tour fees to offset the cost.  More than one family member can work at the same bingo, and you can also bring a friend to work for you.

Are there any age restrictions on working a bingo?

Due to the nature of the work (ie. counting and handling money) you must be at least 16 years of age.  If you are not able to work a bingo due to age restrictions then don't worry, there are other TRP earning opportunities provided by CAMPA.  Please watch for details to be shared when opportunities arise.

How can I get on the list to work a Bingo?

In order to work a fundraising bingo, you need to contact our Bingo Coordinator to let them know that you are a CAMPA family and you would like to be added to the bingo distribution listing.  You will then receive emails from them advising of upcoming bingo dates and requesting you to email them with dates you wish to work, and the names of those in your family who will be working at the bingo(s).

After each event that your family works, the Administrator will confirm your attendance to CAMPA so that your family's TRP account can be allocated points for that event.

Our current Bingo administrator is Maureen Pennington and she can be reached via text at 306.351.2270
